Library and Resource Centre

Thanks to the generosity of the Building the Education Revolution Program, St Matthew's has an innovatively refurbished and extended Library and Resource Centre. Instruction in library and information skills is one of the major focuses of the school's educational program.

The central location of the library makes it clearly visible to all members of the St Matthew’s community. Each class has a 45 minute lesson every week. During this period students borrow and return books and have a skills lesson. Students in primary classes are also able to make use of the computer section of the library or study areas at most times during the week.

Classes are encouraged to utilise the library space during non-library lesson time.

Parents are invited to call in to look around or to borrow from the Parent Library. Regular inclusions in the school newsletter promote activities and request parental involvement in covering or shelving books. The Children’s Book Council Book Week in August is always a fun way to engage parents to come along and celebrate excellent children’s literature with their children.

The library is open every day during both class and play times.
