The Curriculum

St Matthew’s offers regular instruction in Religious Education, English, Mathematics, The Arts, Science, History, Language Other Than English and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education.

Through teaching these areas, we endeavour to develop an atmosphere conducive to the development of the intellectual, academic, physical, emotional, social and spiritual growth of our students. We aim to provide opportunities for success for each child and to build on all positive aspects of learning.

Each subject area has specific intended outcomes and from these the staff have developed school based curriculum documents which set out our beliefs, intended outcomes, a scope and sequence of development, and teaching/learning strategies, assessment and reporting strategies. These documents are revised on a regular basis to ensure they remain in touch with current educational theories and best practice.

Information and Communication technology is also highly valued and as a result can be found embedded in all classroom programmes.
