Welcome, Mrs Beroukas!
We welcome Mrs Deanne Beroukas to St Matthew's Primary School this week.
Deanne has commenced the role of permanent casual classroom teacher, a role in which Deanne will work with all of the students at various times.
Deanne has worked most recently at St Judes, Holder, and many other schools around Canberra, and she brings with her a wealth of experience.
We are blessed to have Deanne on Staff.
Mother's Day Thanks
A huge thanks to our parent helpers, led by Amelia Watman, for organising, setting up, and assisting our students with selecting a Mother's Day gift.
Thank you to the 60% of parents who paid for this gift via QKR. Your support ensured every child took a special gift home to their mother.
Learning Exhibition and Celebration
We look forward to welcoming you to our Learning Exhibition and Celebration today, Thursday, 16 May 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Our students will demonstrate the higher-order thinking that takes place as we journey together through our units of inquiry.
As the exhibition is near the end of the school day, for your convenience, you may take your child home following your visit. Please contact the front office if you plan for someone other than yourself to take your child home.
This event is always exciting, with literally hundreds of parents coming along to speak to our students about their learning. We can’t wait to see you!
Safety Reminders
It is that time of the term again to remind families about the safe Pick-Up and Drop-off procedures.
Inspectors regularly patrol Stutchbury and Chewings Street during our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times. Parents and carers have recently been booked whilst lining up to drop off or collect their children and for parking in a No Parking Zone. The following procedures will ensure that you do not get booked by police:
- Enter Stutchbuty Street from Chewings Street
- Whilst you are lining up, remain close to the centre line, with your right indicator on
- if you are parking near the Junior Playground on Stutchbury Street, only park in the designated car parks
- do not park within 20 metres before or 10 metres after a pedestrian crossing
- only drive into the car park by the entry - do not enter via the exit ramp
Thank you for your assistance in making the morning and afternoon procedures run smoothly.
Drumming and Dance Workshops
This term, our students are participating in Drumming Workshops with Cherie Kotek and Dance Workshops with Cassie from Play Dance Agency.
The students will learn a range of music, including listening, rhythm, movement, and dance skills.
Tours and Enrolment Information Session

If you have a child starting next year, please call the office. An enrolment pack will be sent home.
Enrollments are required by Friday, 31 May.
