Dear Parents and Carers
The warm weather has suddenly arrived, those of you who have lived in Canberra would realise that it may well be short lived. My mother had a saying which she trotted out every year “don’t put your winter clothes away until your sister’s birthday”. Sadly, my sister’s birthday is November 24th, mum was normally right!
It is for that reason that we ask parents to use their discretion around when to dress their child in the change of season uniform. Whilst the official time for wearing summer uniform is the beginning of Term Four, the weather is changeable. The number one rule is to dress your child so that they will be comfortable and able to learn.
On that note, can I remind parents that from the beginning of next term, our Sports Days will revert back to the Tuesday/Thursday timetable of earlier this year.
St Matthew’s Feast Day
Next Thursday we will celebrate our Patron Saint, St Matthew’s Feast Day. The day will begin with a liturgy at 9.30 a.m. focussing on the life of Saint Matthew.
Following the liturgy, the children will break into cross-age groupings. These groupings, the Making Jesus Real groups, are familiar to the children.
Following this session, the children will remain in these groupings for a shared Morning Tea.
Rostrum Public Speaking
Next Monday evening Millie Fletcher will compete in the ACT Public Speaking Final hosted by Rostrum.
This is a wonderful achievement for Millie having already successfully passed through two presentations to reach this stage.
Millie’s topic is Expect the Unexpected which is an extended version of her previous speech.
We would like to wish her every success.
Once again congratulations to all children who made their First Holy Communion last weekend.
I have included a photograph of some members of the Saturday night group with Fr Simon.
Congratulations!
May God bless you and your families.
